My husband likes to think of himself as the soup master. One of his favorite soups to make is chili. He insists that real chili is made with meat chunks not ground meat. So we usually make our chili with cubed steak or some cut of beef. We also have a ton of pasta sauce, I’m working on about four dozen jars right now. So we make chili using pasta sauce. After we served this chili at our sons birthday party we got lots of requests for the recipe so here it is.
1 onion
1 bell pepper
1 pound cubed steak
1 can of corn
2 cans of kidney beans
2 jars pasta sauce (any kind)
2-3 tablespoons chili seasoning
olive oil
Sauté onions in olive oil. Then brown your meat. Add all the other ingredients heat until the chili starts bubbling then turn it down to low and let simmer for at least 4 or 5 hours. We generally make our chili the night before. Cook it on the stove leave sit overnight and continue cooking in the morning. You could also cook it in a crockpot overnight on low. Salt and pepper to taste. This chili recipe is super easy and so delicious we serve it plain, over pasta, or with a side of rice. This is our kid friendly party chili so it’s well seasoned but mild. We serve it with hot sauce on the side so anyone who likes it a little bit spicier can add as much as they like.
